Derek Vinyard is a Nazi with a swastika emblazoned on his chest, harboring a deep-seated hatred for African Americans. His younger brother, Danny, while not as bold and aggressive as Derek, shares his brother’s racist views.

Fueled by rage over his father’s murder by Black men, Derek commits a crime one night that will change his life forever. He becomes a murderer and is sent to prison. In the prison environment, Derek faces rules he is unfamiliar with, putting him on a precarious edge.

As Derek befriends a Black inmate, he is confronted with the twisted rules that challenge his beliefs and force him to choose between his ingrained hatred and his desire to survive. Meanwhile, Danny has grown into a young man, being raised to be as ruthless a racist as his brother.

Directed by British filmmaker Tony Kaye, the 1998 film American History X caused a stir upon its release.

Edward Norton, alongside Edward Furlong—known for his role as ‘John Connor’ in Terminator 2: Judgment Day—delivers a performance that profoundly impacts audiences, making them feel as if they are watching a raw, real-life drama.
