Chev Chelios is about to start his day with an unexpected wake-up call. Groggy and barely able to move, with his heartbeat slowed, Chev answers his ringing cellphone to learn that he has been poisoned during his sleep by his killer nemesis, Ricky Verona, and he only has one hour left to live.

It soon becomes clear that Chev is a freelance hitman working for a major crime syndicate on the West Coast. The previous night, what was supposed to be a routine job took an unexpected turn: Chev had decided to end his life as a professional killer and let his target walk away to start a new life with his girlfriend, Eve.

Now, Chev must literally keep moving to survive. The only way to delay the poison from stopping his heart is to maintain a constant flow of adrenaline in his bloodstream. As the minutes tick away, Chev races through the streets of Los Angeles, wreaking havoc on anyone who dares to get in his way. He must save Eve from danger, stay one step ahead of enemies trying to eliminate him, and find the antidote that will save his life.
